define

When the Senior VP of National Field Representatives first contacted us, we thought it was a sales call…we could not have been more wrong. A long-standing company based in Claremont was growing and had been fractured over 3 different locations around town. The CEO envisioned a single expanded office building that could house all their current NH operations, and provide for 25% growth. They needed it completed roughly 14 months after our interview, yes interview, not selection.

Instruct

The company had purchased two parcels adjacent to their main office building to allow for building and parking. Our immediate task of programming and site analysis started before our first design meeting with the client’s team; the result was showing up at our first meeting with 5 different approaches to how we could expand their existing building to meet their space needs. The clients keen assessment and decision making became clear in that meeting and we knew this was going to be a great project.

Build

The design expanded the building along the road frontage with a 2-story addition that minimizes building footprint and create a strong presence on the street. A gabled front elevation leads visitors to the new entry and lobby. We incorporated a mansard roof with dormers on the balance of the addition to highlight the entry gable, maintain the scale of the other buildings on the street, and add character to the building. An expansive roof deck and covered walk around the entire building were added amenities for the employees and became features used to unify the new and old buildings.
